Caster Parts
- Top PlateTop plate or mounting plate is where the caster attaches to the frame and/or equipment. The bolt holes or mounting holes and the spacing between them need to be considered for proper installation.
- Raceware & BearingsTop section of the caster in which ball bearings swivel 360° within a machined track.
- YokeMetal frame of the caster that holds the wheel in place. Can be rigid or swivel. Sometimes referred to as a fork or rig.
- HubA caster's hub material can be made from different materials depending on the characteristics needed for it's applications.
- Axle Bolt w/ Grease Zerk FittingThe axle bolt attaches the wheel onto the yoke (the frame of the caster).
- BrakeThe brake can attached on the side or top of the yoke, and when depressed, stops the wheel from rolling.
- WheelThe wheel can be made of various materials and can be attached to a hub (of different material) or can have a solid core.

- Hub CoreA hub's core material can be made from different materials depending on the characteristics needed for it's applications.
- BearingsWheel bearings provide either mechanical rolling assistance or a slick surface that reduces friction and increases roll-ability. Raceway bearings are a device on a swivel caster, enabling it to turn while bearing the load.
- BushingA metal sleeve that fits in the hub core in which an axle revolves and protects the wheel from contacting the housing.
- Bore (arbor)Distance measured through the center of the wheel.
- Zerk Grease FittingGrease fitting on wheels, caster raceways or axles.
- Wheel Threada measurement of one side of the wheel to the other.
